As President of the New Jersey Division of IAAP, I am proud to represent you - our members. I take my pledge to serve our association and its members very seriously. I have represented our members at chapter, division, district, and international events.
This past July, I had the honor of standing before the voting delegates, members, international officers, and guests at the EFAM in MN. On the convention floor, I had the opportunity to ask questions, pledge support, and voice my opinion at the microphone five times. I also experienced a first with the other division presidents from the Northeast District: Diana Comber, PA President; Bianca M. Constance, NY President; and Robert M. Marshall CAP, GNE President. Together we wrote a statement and presented it on the convention floor. We asked the voting delegates to please be sure to vote their conscience on the amendment that was brought before them. The unity of the Northeast District Division Presidents is a bond of mutual respect. We value each other’s strengths, skills, and integrity, and share the IAAP mission statement: “Enhancing the success of career-minded administrative professionals by providing opportunities for growth through education, community building and leadership development.”
The commitment that the other New Jersey Division officers and I share for IAAP is a powerful one! We bring a total of 100 years of administrative experience to the New Jersey Division. Your officers for the 2009-2010 year are President-Diane M. Moore CPS/CAP; President-Elect - Deborah Melvin CPS; Vice President - Susan Sheldon CPS/CAP; Secretary - Carmen Shea CPS; and Treasurer - Karen Williams. These women are outstanding in the field and are a valuable asset to the New Jersey Division.
Listening to our members has brought about change to the New Jersey Division. Taking into consideration time constraints and economic concerns our members have shared with us regarding IAAP business, we are committed to providing education and training with respect to professional responsibility and continuing education to better serve our members.
Scheduled programs for the year are: a Leadership Workshop, Fall Meeting, CPS & CAP Exams, Spring Meeting, CPS/CAP Recognition Event, APW Event, Professional Conference, Leaders Recognition Event, Annual Meeting, and an EFAM Briefing. With today’s economic climate, it is essential to try and meet the vast challenges that our members are experiencing in this volatile job market. Our intentions are to provide leadership tools to our administrative professionals. We are committed to participating in the Pathways to Excellence Program on the division level. We encourage our chapter officers to commit on the chapter level and I am inviting you, our members, to become Members of Excellence as well. The New Jersey Division has 28 members who have achieved the Member of Excellence criteria. Three current division officers are Members of Excellence. The New Jersey Board has a goal for all the officers and committee chairs to hold that distinction as well.
The new IAAP Web community gives you, its members, a brand new tool to utilize. We have an extremely talented Webmaster - Lynn Fernandez CAP. Lynn has offered her expertise to the New Jersey Division for its website. Thank you, Lynn!

Each month, as your Division President, I will nominate two individuals to the Northeast District Director for consideration.
